Lately, it seems the littlest things are making me disproportionately happy.

And I mean that somewhat literally.

I've fallen down a tiny home rabbit hole. I got ridiculously excited about miniature vegetables at Trader Joe's. I planted a few mums outside. I got the sweetest teeny bouquet from my daughter. And I'm about to devote an entire section of this newsletter to a pen.

Apparently, I'm in my tiny things era. 😂

But maybe there's something to that.

Not everything that makes our days better has to be big or exciting or particularly meaningful. Sometimes it's just noticing the little things that make an ordinary day feel a bit more delightful.

Here are a few of mine lately...

I cannot stop watching tiny home tours.

YouTube. TV shows. Give me a 300-square-foot house with a hidden staircase, a ridiculously clever storage solution, beautiful windows, a tiny sleeping loft and I am IN.

It's become my comfort TV lately.

There's something so satisfying about watching people figure out how to make a really small space beautiful, functional, cozy, and completely their own.

Would I actually want to live in 300 square feet with my family?

That's a different question. 😂

But apparently I will happily spend hours watching other people do it.

Here are some of my favorite tiny home YouTube channels:

We've spent so much time, energy, and money working on the inside of our house this year that the outside hasn't gotten much attention.

I usually plant flowers in the spring, but this year...it just didn't happen. And every time I looked at the front of the house, I thought, I really need to do something out here.

This week, I finally bought some mums.

I should also mention that we're hosting a baby shower at our house this weekend, which definitely helped light a fire under me. External motivation never hurts. 😉

Nothing elaborate. Nothing that required an entire weekend or another giant house project. Just a few flowers and a little color.

And honestly? It made such a difference.

I usually despise grocery shopping. But lately I've realized something: where I shop matters.

I've been shopping at Trader Joe's more often, and I actually...enjoy it? It's smaller. It feels more curated. There aren't seventeen aisles and 900 versions of everything to choose from. And there are always interesting little things to discover.

Including, on a recent trip...Mini zucchini. Mini avocados. Teeny Tiny tomatoes.

What can I say? They made me smile (and ended up in my cart).

Apparently my tiny-home obsession has now made its way into my produce choices. 😂

But there's also something interesting about realizing that sometimes it's not necessarily the thing we dislike—it's the environment we're doing it in.

I still have to grocery shop. But doing it somewhere that feels a little more enjoyable has made an ordinary chore feel...dare I say it?...kind of delightful.

Do you have an extremely ordinary object that you are wildly loyal to?

Mine is the Pentel EnerGel. I have loved this pen for YEARS.

It writes so smoothly. It feels good in my hand. It comes in a bunch of colors. I use it for basically everything—lists, notes, planning, ideas, journaling, all of it.

And if I forget mine at home and need a pen? I will literally go to the store and buy another one rather than use some random inferior pen. 😂

Do you have a favorite pen? Or is it just me.

My daughter went for a walk this week and came home carrying a tiny bouquet of wildflowers and weeds she'd picked for me.

And honestly, it was the sweetest thing.

Just a few little flowers gathered in her hand because she saw them, thought of me, and decided to bring them home.

They weren't fancy. They didn't come from a florist. They were mostly weeds.

And I absolutely loved them.

Maybe it's because I'm apparently in my tiny-things era, but that little bouquet brought me more joy than something ten times its size ever could.

A very good reminder that sometimes the best gifts are simply the ones that say:

I saw this and thought of you. 💛

“It is of the small joys and little pleasures that the greatest of our days are built.”

Mary Anne Radmacher

I came across this quote and immediately saved it.

Maybe because it seems to sum up what I've been noticing lately. We tend to remember the big things—the vacations, celebrations, milestones, exciting plans. But most of our lives aren't made up of those moments. They're made up of ordinary Tuesdays. The pen we love writing with. Flowers by the front door. A cozy show at the end of the day. Something tiny and ridiculous at the grocery store that makes us smile.

None of these things are particularly important on their own. But put enough small joys and little pleasures together...

and you've built yourself a pretty good day.

This weekend, notice something small that makes you smile.

A flower growing along your walk. A favorite treat. Something beautiful in your own backyard. A funny photo. A tiny thing you know someone else would love.

And maybe, like my daughter, you pass a little bit of that joy along.

Pick the flower. Send the photo. Leave the note. Bring home their favorite snack.

Nothing elaborate.

Just a tiny way of saying:

I saw this and thought of you. 💛
