This week had a few lovely little pockets of creativity and fun including…welcoming women back into the studio, taking myself on a tiny pie date, and finding new Christmas stitching patterns after realizing my original plan needed a little adjusting.
I’ve also been thinking about how often I rush through my days, and how much I enjoy those little moments when I actually let myself be in them.
So here’s a little of what I’ve been making, enjoying, and thinking about this week. Plus, there’s some handmade happiness coming your way!

This week, I took myself on a mini date to Starbucks to try their new mini pies. I stopped on my way home from work, gave myself a half hour, and sat out on the patio with my cute little fall treats.
And yes, I got one of each. Apple crumble, pecan, and pumpkin. I needed to do a proper taste test! Apple crumble was my favorite, with pecan and pumpkin tied for second.
It was such a lovely little treat in the middle of a busy week. Nothing elaborate or planned far in advance. Just a stop on the way home and a little time to enjoy it.
Sometimes a half hour and a tiny pie (or three) is all you need.

Last week, I hosted my first workshop back at the studio in a year! We did a full house remodel, and I had to close the studio for classes during that time. It felt so good to have people back around the table, making things together again.
Seven lovely ladies joined me for a bracelet-making workshop, and we had so much fun that I forgot to take a single picture of everyone working—or the beautiful bracelets they made. Not one!
I would have loved to share pictures with you, but I’m happy I was enjoying the evening right along with everyone else. I’ve missed this, and I’m so excited for many more workshops to come!

I’m still working on cross-stitched ornaments for my kids, but there’s been a little change of plans. The ones I originally picked are way too big to be ornaments. Something I probably should have noticed before I started stitching.
I’m finishing the first one I started, and now the plan is to frame it and display it at Christmastime. So it’ll still have a place in our Christmas decorations!
Meanwhile, I went on the hunt for new patterns for the kids’ ornaments, and Etsy did not disappoint. I love the patterns I purchased and can’t wait to get started. Here’s hoping I got the size right this time!
Lately, I’ve been catching myself rushing through the most ordinary things. Making food, brushing my teeth, even getting into my pajamas. Where exactly am I racing to?
I love my full life, but I want to stop living with this constant sense of urgency. So I’m trying to catch myself and ask, “Do I actually need to be rushing right now?” Most of the time, the answer is no.
Those little everyday moments are my life, too. And I want to enjoy them instead of always thinking about what’s next.
I shared more about this in a reel this week. If you’re always in a hurry, too, come watch …and tell me I’m not the only one!

I’m starting something fun just for subscribers to The Joy Edit—a monthly happy mail giveaway!
On the first day of each month, I’ll randomly choose one subscriber to receive a little handmade happiness in the mail. It’ll be something I make especially for that month, and I’m excited to have another reason to make things and share them with you.
November’s gift is a set of five handmade greeting cards for you to send a little happiness to someone else, too!
There’s nothing extra you need to do. If you’re subscribed, you’re already in!
I’ll be picking November’s winner on November 1st. I can’t wait to send a little happiness to someone’s mailbox!

Take yourself on a little date this weekend. Nothing fancy...a treat from your favorite bakery, a browse through a bookstore, or a cup of tea with a project you’ve been wanting to work on.
Give yourself a half hour to enjoy it without squeezing in an errand or planning the next thing.
What would feel like a little treat for you this weekend? Hit reply and tell me. I’d love to hear.

Thank you for being here, reading along, and supporting Creative Calm Studio. It means so much to me that you choose to make The Joy Edit a little part of your week. 🩷
